Tony Holohan answers Covid-themed Christmas questions from kids

CMO Tony Holohan answered some hilarious Christmas-themed Covid questions from children outside the Department of Health.

Santa’s “special magic powers” stop him from getting Covid, meaning he can travel from house to house without any risk of getting the disease, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan reassured Senior Infants and First Class pupils today.

Dr Holohan received a visit from inquisitive boys and girls of Scoil Chaitríona Baggot Street at the Department of Health today and he answered their questions about Santa and how he will avoid the disease while delivering presents this Christmas.

“Santa has very special magic powers that protect him from picking up Covid so we know he’s not going to get it. He’s able to travel around freely to different countries and houses and we don’t have to worry about Santa picking up Covid or passing it on to other people. That’s good news, isn’t it?” Dr Holohan assured the pupils of Scoil Chaitríona.

One boy asked Dr Holohan if Santa’s reindeer could pick up the virus but Dr Holohan informed him that, “the reindeer can’t get Covid either, so Santa and the reindeer can do their business on Christmas Eve for all the boys and girls who are good”.

The same magical powers mean Santa can get to all the countries in the world very fast on Christmas Eve, Dr Holohan said while reassuring the children he does not have to wear a mask every time he goes into a house.

One boy asked Dr Holohan how Santa and Mrs Claus stay safe in the North Pole and Dr Holohan reassured him that they won’t become sick and they also “have a whole lot of elves that look after them.

“They are also far away from other people so that helps to keep them safe?” Dr Holohan said.
