Taoiseach addresses concerns as nightclubs reopen despite rising Covid-19 cases

Taoiseach Micheal Martin addresses the concerns of rising Covid-19 case numbers going into winter. Mr Martin's comments come as nightclubs are due to open in Ireland for the first time since March 2020, as a slight easing of Covid-19 restrictions takes effect. However, rising case numbers and warnings from health officials mean that many public health regulations – including mask wearing and physical distancing – will remain in place until February 2022. The Taoiseach spoke at the EU summit in Brussels.
