Recalled French Ambassador calls Aukus submarine deal a 'huge mistake'

The recalled French ambassador to Australia called the snubbing of a submarine contract in favour of a new US partnership a "huge mistake", as he left the French embassy in Canberra. Jean-Pierre Thebault said the cancelling of a French contract with the Australian Government in favour of a new defence partnership between Australia, the UK and the US (Aukus) amounted to a breach of a partnership, in addition to a breach of contract.
