Parrot becomes regular patron in Dublin's bars and cafés

Parrot Roco Macaw has made himself at home in Dublin city centre, where he is recognised by hospitality staff and onlookers.

Parrot Roco Macaw has proved he's not a fish out of water, by frequently visiting cafés and bars in Dublin City Centre.

The Military macaw parrot has been regularly spotted by onlookers around Dublin, as his owner Dara Beggan brings him out on some much-needed walks.

Although Roco isn't your average patron, his presence hasn't rustled many feathers so far.

Owner Dara says he was surprised at just how affectionate a parrot can be.

"This guy will come over for a cuddle at the end of the evening, and will fluff up when you walk in the room to say hello." Dara told Independent.ie.

The bird even has his own Instagram account, which Dara insists is run solely by Roco.

"I give him the phone for 15 minutes a day," Dara jokes.

"The only condition is he keeps it clean, keeps his feathers on, and makes good family content.

"Apart from that I don't interfere."
