Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Hazel Chu, opens up about racist abuse

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Hazel Chu, has said she draws a line when racists make remarks about her child. She revealed that she still gets comments every day questioning her Irishness, despite the fact that she was born here, but that when they “come after my family that's a different issue altogether”. Even though she was born at the Rotunda Hospital, Cllr Chu told The Hard Shoulder that there are still people who insist on making her feel different.
