Irish government has failed to save lives, says leading genetics professor

Professor Aoife McLysaght, genetics expert at Trinity College, Dublin, has spoken of the lack of government action in containing the virus in Ireland. The genetics expert says by opening up international travel in the summer it allowed new variants to enter Ireland. She also says the three-week reopening before Christmas caused Ireland to have one of the longest lockdowns in Europe.
