Hydrogen could be the future for transport and domestic and energy

The Mayor of Carlisle, Madame Pam Birks, joined representatives from the Local Enterprise Partnership, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and other partners at DNV’s Research and Development facility in Cumbria on October 26. Alongside finding out about about the move to hydrogen for homes and businesses and visiting a hydrogen powered kitchen, the group saw a new hydrogen fuel cell-powered car. The Hyundai car’s fuel cell system combines oxygen and hydrogen to create a flow of electrons to power an electric motor, and charge its 1.56kWh high-voltage battery. Chris Barron of the De-Carbonise Gas Alliance and Tim Harwood, Northern Gas Networks discuss the possible uses of hydrogen in transport and domestic and industrial energy.
