Dr Mike Ryan: Ireland's Covid-19 cases due to socialising, not variant

WHO

The World Health Organisation's Dr. Mike Ryan has said that Ireland's dramatic increase in cases was due to socialising. Ryan was making the case that Covid-19 is a controllable virus, and that high numbers can be brought down.

"It's like adding a substitution in the second half of a football game," Dr. Mike Ryan said when asked about new Covid-19 variants.

"It doesn't change the rules of the game, it doesn't change what you do.

"It adds to the challenge you face, because the opposition is bringing on some new players."
