Coach unveils chic take on modern Americana for fall 17
Coach has unveiled a cool take on America's style heritage for autumn/winter 2017.
Creative director Stuart Vevers presented his latest collection as part of New York Fashion Week on Tuesday night (14Feb17), with Emma Roberts, Drew Barrymore and brand ambassador Selena Gomez all sat perched on the front row.
To set the tone of the show, Vevers had the set decorated with a faux prairie landscape as well as a runway in the form of a dusty dirt road.
And the clothes reflected a theme of American nostalgia, with a model opening the show in an A-line skirt printed with wild horses which was paired with a shearling coat embroidered with eagles.
Shearling was a major fabric throughout the line, with the fabric used on suede coats and on the collars of floral-printed padded coats.
British designer Vevers also softened up his signature leather biker jackets via the use of sweet embellishments, such as flowers and bird appliques. And the Little House on the Prairie references were evident in a brown plaid dress worn by model Winnie Harlow, which was matched with a heavy leather gilet jacket complete with black leather fringing and a faux fur collar.
An arts and crafts vibe was also seen in a navy varsity jacket with a brown faux fur trim which was modelled by Binx Walton, with the fun garment paired with a patchwork skirt. Adding to the eclectic vibe were pretty floral dresses matched with leather jackets, or the plaid skirts which were accessorised with miniature bowling bags. Interspersed within the collection were other fun accessories, including baseball caps and mini handbags covered in quirky motifs.
Footwear ended up being a big focus of the line, with the models wearing sneakers with shearling trims and chunky lug soles, or Birkenstock-style slide sandals.
