Roy Keane has proved to be a big hit on Instagram and his St Patrick's Day message confirmed he is not afraid to have a laugh at his own expense.

Keane took part in a famous Walkers crisps advert with England soccer great Gary Lineker to toast this special day at a time when we were allowed to celebrate in a proper manner.

Lineker's trip to Ireland for St Patrick's Day appeared to be at the heart of advert until the final scene when Keane revealed himself from under a leprechaun outfit.

"Dressed as a leprechaun chasing Lineker for a bag of crisps. Do me a favour. Up The Irish," read the sarcastic message from Keane as he posted an image of the day of filming in Dublin.

Keane is not known for self-depreciating humour in public, but his 1.3million followers on Instagram loved his latest post as it instantly created a huge response.

Walkers crisps will be happy their advertising investment from many years ago is still reaping rewards!

Keane was not alone getting into the St Patrick's Day spirit, with out legendary Sunday World columnists John Aldridge and Paul McGrath also posting messages to their followers on Twitter:
