Borussia Dortmund insiders have insisted they are not close to agreeing a deal with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho, with a new date for the transfer to be completed now being mentioned.

United are believed to be stepping up their bid to sign long-term target Sancho, after they failed to land the England attacking star after a stand-off with Dortmund last summer.

The German club insisted they would not sell Sancho for anything less than €120million last summer, with United holding out for a deal at a lower price.

That agreement never materialised and now United are making a fresh attempt to sign Sancho, with sundayworld.com revealing on Saturday that a fee closer to €90million will now be demanded by Dortmund.

Finalising terms with Sancho's agent and satisfying his wage demands will not block this transfer, but United's reluctant to pay Dortmund's full asking price may be an issue.

The Old Trafford club will look to hammer out a deal that will see a smaller up front payment and additional add-ons based on the player's appearances and achievements allowing Dortmund to claim they have struck a deal that met their valuation.

Yet respected German football observer and former Premier League striker Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested talks between the two clubs are yet to reach a point where the fine details of the fee have been discussed.

Dortmund set a deadline on United signing Sancho based around when their players returned to pre-season training last summer and they then insisted they would not sell the player beyond that point.

Now Fjortoft has hinted a similar scenario could be in play this summer, with Dortmund keen for any deal to be finalisted before their players return for pre-season training on July 23rd.
