Liverpool have been linked with big money moves for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in recent months, but manager Jurgen Klopp has ended that speculation by insisting his club will not sign players of that value this summer.

As revealed by sundayworld.com last week, Liverpool are set to focus their transfer attention on signing younger players with the potential to be developed into top performers by Klopp and his coaching staff.

That will only change if one of his star names leaves, with speculation continuing to link Mohamed Salah with a move away from Liverpool.

Yet as we reported, Anfield chiefs are determined to do all they can to tie Salah down to a new contract and now Klopp has insisted big money signings will not be part of his plan for this summer.

Klopp was quizzed on what transfer activity he expected to be undertaking this summer and he offered up an honest response.

"Not a lot. It depends on what happens if someone wants to leave, if we sell. We can never really plan early," he stated.

"Not playing Champions League doesn’t help obviously, but it’s not our biggest problem. The market will be really strange.

"I hear about really big money moves… is Kylian Mbappe going? Haaland? Sancho? I don’t see that happening a lot this summer because the football world is still not in the same place it was before.

"The situation is better than I would have thought a year ago but the financial situation is a year where everyone suffers.

"We will see how the market will develop but for sure it won’t be an early market.

"It’s not good if you don’t go to the Champions League, but there is still a chance and while there is a chance we should not speak about it as no chance."

Liverpool are expected to seal a deal for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate and they are also looking into a permanent move for Ozan Kabak, who has impressed during a loan spell from Schalke.

A final decision on Kabak will be made later this month and Liverpool are set to focus their attention on signing young stars, with Brighton's Yves Bissouma still very much on their radar.

Liverpool are looking to finance new arrivals with some player sales and Naby Keita could be among those made available for transfer, along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
