Roman Abramovich has identified his chief transfer target for this summer, with the Chelsea owner setting his heart on signing the player he believes can turn his side into Premier League champions.

That player in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, with newly crowned European champions Chelsea emerging one of the few clubs in world football who could consider a move for the Norway wonder kid.

While Dortmund have insisted they will not consider a deal to part with Haaland this summer and are instead keen to sell Jadon Sancho to Manchester United to wipe out some of the debts they have incurred from the Covid-19 crisis, there is now a suggesting that asking price of around €150million could change their stance.

Haaland's huge wage demands and the agent fee that would go to his chief adviser Mino Raiola would also be an issue for Chelsea, but former Premier League striker Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested a deal for Haaland to move to Stamford Bridge could be possible despite Dortmund's stance on not selling the player.

Fjortoft has close contacts with Haaland's father Alf Inge and the striker's camp, with his excellent interview with one of Europe's most wanted men highlighting his position last month.

While Haaland insists he is happy at Dortmund and the club are eager to hold on to him despite having a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for a reduced fee of €75million next summer, Chelsea are now actively exploring the possibility of trying to piece together what would be the biggest transfer of the year.

Stamford Bridge chiefs are keen to focus on signing players with youthful potential and Haaland is the ultimate target for Abramovich, who is convinced manager Thomas Tuchel can continue his success story at the club after winning the Champions League last month.

With Romalu Lukaku set to stay at Inter Milan, all eyes are now on whether Chelsea can fund a deal for Haaland, with the finances involved ensuring nothing is certain at this stage.

In a separate development, sundayworld.com can reveal that Crystal Palace are interested in a move to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

While not official bid has been lodged by Palace as they wait to appoint a new manager, we understand there is strong interest in Abraham from the south London club keen to revive their squad in an off-season that will see a host of senior players will follow manager Roy Hodgson out of the exit door.

sundayworld.com revealed last month that FIVE players could be leaving Chelsea this month, with AC Milan also keen to sign both Fikayo Tomori and Oliver Giroud from Chelsea in deals that could bring in up to €40million in revenue.

If player departures can generate income of around €100million, a deal for Haaland may be possible and now all parties are exploring whether the transfer can be done.
