Chelsea have already set the wheels in motion on their transfer plans for this summer, with manager Thomas Tuchel identifying the key area of his team he wants to improve this summer.

Tuchel's success in guiding Chelsea to a top four finish in the Premier League will ensure that he is given extra funding for transfer this summer and signing a top striker is the club's overriding priority.

While Chelsea are aware of Eden Hazard's desire to return to the club after Real Madrid made it clear they would listen to offers for the Belgian midfielders signed from the Stamford Bridge club two years, ago, Hazard is not a priority target for the club at this moment.

Instead, Tuchel is keen to add a proven marksman with Premier League experience to his squad, as well as a wide player who can offer some fresh invention to their forward line two names are now coming to the fore.

sundayworld.com revealed earlier this month that Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku and Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland are high priority targets for Chelsea and while both deals will be expensive, club officials believe they are in a position to strike deal few other of their rivals could consider this summer.

With so many clubs around Europe struggling to overcome the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to back Tuchel to add the final pieces to his jigsaw that will transform Chelsea into title challengers.

Chelsea invested heavily in player recruitment last summer as they signed Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, but most of the finances for those deals was already in place after the club's transfer embargo and the sale of Hazard and Alvaro Morata in the summer of 2019.

Now Abramovich is ready to invest heavily in key target and as Lukaku has long been one of his favourite strikers, he is eager to bring the Belgian back to the club where he admits his heart lies.

Lukaku realised a dream when he followed in the footsteps of his hero Didier Drogba by joining Chelsea a decade ago, but he failed to make a first team impact during formative days of his career and now he could return as the club's star forward.

News that Antonio Conte has parted company with Inter Milan as the club look to raise £80million from player sales this summer will see Chelsea step up their interest in Lukaku, with the player's advisers already aware of interest from the West London club.

Chelsea will also look to step up their efforts to sign Sancho, who is believed to favour a move to Manchester United despite interest from this season's Champions League finalists.

Several Chelsea players are set to leave the club this summer, with the sales of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham likely to raise a healthy sum that will all be ploughed back into Tuchel's transfer kitty.

While all eyes are on Saturday's Champions League final against Manchester City in Porto, Chelsea are expected to step up their attempts to sign Lukaku, with a fee of around £65million likely to be enough to secure his services.
