Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has been promised a bumper transfer kitty this summer, with the Borussia Dortmund duo of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho emerging as his big targets.

Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge last month and has been assured that he will be given money to spend in this summer's transfer scramble by Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

That could hand Chelsea a huge advantage in the next transfer window, with many of their rivals set to be handicapped by the financial implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With Dortmund struggling to qualify for next season's Champions League despite an impressive 4-0 win at Schalke on Saturday evening that included goals from Sancho and Haaland, club officials have conceded they are expecting Sancho to at the end of this season.

Dortmund refused to sell Sancho last summer despite intense negotiations with Manchester United, but that position is almost certain to change when the next transfer window opens.

There have been suggestions that Dortmund may also be forced to sell their star striker Haaland if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, with the striker who will be allowed to leave for €75million in the summer of 2022 currently the hottest property in European football.

A double deal for Sancho and Haaland could cost up to €200miillion, but Chelsea showed last summer that they have the financial firepower to sign the games top stars after a huge spending spree that saw the London club sign Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea are expecting to off-load a host of fringe players in a bid to finance their latest transfer splash, with Callum Hudson-Odoi a player who could be offered as part exchange in what would be a mega-deal with Tuchel's former club Dortmund.

Tuchel is also believed to have stepped up in his interest in Bayern Munich star Niklas Sule, as he attempts to bolster his defensive ranks in the summer transfer window.
