The Bomber Liston (4.15) faces three Irish rivals when he makes his eagerly awaited start over hurdles at Hexham today, and the J P McManus-owned five year old has been a work in progress for the Nicky Henderson team so far.

This Goffs Land Rover Sale purchase was a well supported 11/8 jolly when a disappointing third under Jonjo O’Neill Jun. in a Ffos Las bumper in October.

The money came by the barrowload at Catterick in November where the 4/7 hotpot ran much better for Aidan Coleman but they were pipped by Fingal’s Hill.

He was due to run in a hot-looking novice hurdle at Ffos Las on Thursday but was withdrawn presumably due to the fast ground. Jonjo is back on board today where he should oblige, the two and a half miles trip will suit.

However Denis Hogan’s Grozni is not travelling from Cloughjordan just to make up the numbers. He won a Market Rasen bumper with authority, and will be well schooled for the task in hand today.

Denise Foster’s O’Connell Street has an edge in experience but Stuart Crawford’s Peaceful Sunday must improve on his Punchestown effort.

GORDON’S JET (3.15) was second to Will Carver at Perth and has nothing like that to worry about now while track and trip specialist PRINCE DUNDEE (3.45) cannot be opposed.
