Leo Varadkar has shared a picture of himself and partner Matthew Barrett ahead of today's All Ireland Football Final in colours of the opposing teams.

The Tanaiste, who is a proud Dub is supporting the Boys in Blue, while Matthew is decked out in the red and green as he cheers on his home county of Mayo.

He also shared a snap of the pair watching a very similar match in Croke Park when Dublin played Mayo in the final four years ago, and won the Sam Maguire Cup by just one point.

Leo wrote to his 186,000 followers: "Throwback to 2016. Very different year but same rivalry. Mayo v Dublin is always a great game #UpTheDubs."

While Leo and Matt have been together for a number of years now, and generally tend to keep their relationship quiet they occasionally share some insights.

Leo previously told Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show that this is the first serious relationship he's been in, describing Matt as "a very special person".

"It's great to have someone who is unconditionally on your side, someone who can tell me when you’ve got something wrong – sometimes you need to be told you’re wrong," he explained.

Recently Leo showed off his Christmas decorations he and Matthew put up together.

"Am 16 years in my flat, but never got a Christmas tree before. Was never home. This year’s been different. Pandemic silver lining," he wrote on Instagram.

The Dublin West TD finally took the plunge and put a gorgeous tree complete with baubles, lights and a traditional star on top of the tree.
