The daughter of former Ireland footballer Mark Kinsella has claimed a bronze medal in gymnastics for Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics.

Alice Kinsella (20), alongside Amelie Morgan and 16-year-old twins Jennifer and Jessica Gadirova, secured Great Britain’s first women’s team gymnastic medal since 1928 earlier today, moving above Italy in the final rotation.

Team GB totalled 164.096, with the Russian Olympic Committee taking gold and the US team settling for silver for the first time since 2008 after star gymnast Simone Biles pulled out of the competition due to a “medical issue.”

Alice Kinsella, who is also the 2019 European champion on the balance beam, is the daughter of former Republic of Ireland player and current Drogheda United assistant coach Mark Kinsella.
