Chris Noth, the actor who played Mr Big in Sex and the City, has been accused of raping a woman and sexually assaulting another.
One of the women says she came forward with the historical allegations after being prompted by the return of the television series.
In a statement, the actor categorically denied the allegations published by The Hollywood Reporter.
He said his relationships with the two women were consensual, and he questioned the timing of the claims.
The magazine said the two women approached it separately, nine months apart, and did not know one another.
The alleged incidents reportedly took place a decade apart.

One of the women said seeing Mr Noth in And Just Like That, a recent revival of the show, had “set something off in me” and she decided to “go public with who he is”.
Mr Noth, (67), told the magazine: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago – no always means no – that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual.
“It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
One of the women, a 40-year-old the publication called Zoe, said she met Mr Noth in Los Angeles in 2004, when she was 22 and he was 49.
She claimed that when she visited his flat on one occasion, to return a book he had lent her, the actor raped her.
A friend then took her to the city’s Cedars-Sinai hospital where she told staff she had been assaulted, she claimed.
She told the magazine: “Two police officers came. I wouldn’t say who it was. Seeing that he was reprising his role in Sex and the City set off something in me. For so many years, I buried it.”
The second woman, whom the magazine called Lily, claimed that in 2015, when she was 25, Mr Noth asked her out for dinner at the restaurant where character Carrie Bradshaw held her 30th birthday in the show. She claimed he later sexually assaulted her in his flat after inviting her back to drink whiskey. (© Daily Telegraph London)
