It is one of the most eagerly-anticipated TV events of 2021 and the wait is finally over for Succession fans.

Sundayworld.com attended the glitzy premiere of season three of the hit Sky Atlantic show last Friday and we caught up with actor Kieran Culkin, who plays the role of immature brother Roman in the drama that takes sibling rivalry to a whole new level.

The battles of the Roy family reach new levels of bitterness and insanity for in the new season, that was delayed by a year due to pandemic and the great news for succession fans is a fourth and fifth season of Succession are already being planned.

"I know there is at least one more season," confirmed Culkin, who is the younger brother of Home Alone star Macaulay. "I'd like at least two more seasons, please. This is going well!

"We were postponed for about a year, so it was kinda weird. To be back now is great and the excitement around the show is amazing. People want more of it, so it is great that there will be a season four.

"The writers probably know how this story ends, but I'm not sure if they know how to get there yet."

The star-studded premiere at London's Royal Festival Hall highlighted the level of anticipation bubbling around Succession and Culkin confirms that excitement is shared by the cast when writer Jesse Armstrong allows them to see the scripts for the show.

"We get so excited when the script comes in," he said. "What's going to happen... we are all looking at it and wondering what happens.

"There is stuff written the morning we shoot, that is the way the producers work. It is great in many ways because we are all kept on our toes.

"When I watched it from the beginning, there is something in the middle of season one that grabbed me and I guess other people are like that as well. Since then, everyone seems to have been hooked."

Culkin went on to reveal he initially auditioned for the role of dopy 'Cousin Greg' in Succession and then made a strong play to land the role of quirky Roman Roy, the middle sibling of media mogul Logan Roy.

"I was asked to read the script for cousin Greg and it wasn't right for me, but I loved the writing and wanted to read on," he added. "So I picked out three scenes for Roman and sent in the film. I wanted the role and I'm told they didn't even audition for the role, so it must have gone well."

The first episode of season three of Succession is available on Sky Atlantic now.
