Brand new day Simon Delaney welcomes Elaine Crowley as she begins her first day on Ireland AM

Simon Delaney has welcomed Elaine Crowley to Ireland AM following her first appearance on the popular TV show. 

Elaine has joined Simon for its weekend run from Friday to Sunday following the end of her programme Elaine on Virgin Media.

She replaces Anna Daly who confirmed that she would not return to her regular spot on the morning show.

Simon took to social media to welcome Elaine to the Ireland AM sofa on her first day on the job.

He shared a picture of Elaine and himself sitting alongside each other alongside his message of support.

Simon said: ‘Please help me welcome @ElaineCrowley to the @IrelandAMVMTV team!

“I’ll try to be nice as it’s her first day.”

Ireland AM viewers took to social media to praise Elaine on her first show.

One viewer said Elaine “should be on every day, brilliant presenter”, while another added, “Thank God … Simon and Elaine, good duo.”

Another commented: “Can we not have these two Mon to Fri too!!”

Another said: “Great show this morning. Love the cook. Great interviews”

“Miss Elaine at 3. Loving watching her now on am,” another fan declared.

“So nice seeing you on Ireland AM Elaine wishing you all the best with it hope they're looking after you and making you feel welcome,” added a viewer.

The popular television personality had wished her former viewers farewell after the news that her show had been cancelled.

She said: "It’s with a heavy heart I say goodbye to the Elaine show.

"It’s been such a privilege and an honour to work with such amazing women and men over the last 10 years. Such great friendships have been forged, and many many laughs have been had, especially behind the scenes (the bold stuff I can’t tell you about!)"

She continued: "I just want to thank everyone involved in the show: the crew, production team, panelist’s and most of all the viewers. Your support has meant the world to me and got me through some difficult times.

"I’m so lucky to have had the chance to work with you all, and have my name on a mug!! Anyway, enough waffling from me for now. Take care of yourselves, be kind to yourselves and thank you for being there."
