RTÉ pundit Pat Spillane said he hopes that after appearing on Living with Lucy that people will think he’s “alright”.

Lucy Kennedy is back on our small screens tonight for a brand new series of Living with Lucy, and the first celebrity she will stay with is former Kerry footballer Pat Spillane and his wife Rosarii.

The couple welcome Lucy into their home in Kenmare, Co Kerry, for a few days to go swimming, sightseeing, and of course to chat GAA gossip.

In one of the scenes, Pat opens up to Lucy about how he didn’t think some people liked him while he was on TV as a pundit, and hopes that this show shines a different light on his life and what he is like.

While sitting on the couch with the host and Rosarii, the 57-year-old said: “When we ran the bar I would stand for 100 photos a day.

"They would only know you were from the television and you would just when a guy didn’t like you, so I would hit them with the ‘Hi, how are you?’ or whatever and suddenly he might be thinking to himself ‘ah, he’s alright’.

“So, maybe with this programme somebody will say afterward ‘he’s alright, sort of?’”

Last season, the show was called Lodging With Lucy as due to the Covid-19 pandemic the format of the show had to be slightly tweaked.

Instead of visiting celebrities' homes, the TV presenter invited them to a house in Meath for a few days to get to know each other.

However, this season is back to the original format and Lucy will one again travel around Ireland visiting and staying with various celebrities.
