Nicola Coughlan has sent Bridgerton fans into a frenzy by sharing some photos from the upcoming second season.

The steamy period drama became one of Netflix’s biggest shows ever when it was first released on the streaming service in December 2020, and viewers have been eagerly anticipating the return of Lady Whistledown and the rest of the ton ever since.

Bridgerton is due to come back with a bang this year, hitting Netflix on March 25th.

And Nicola Coughlan, who stars as socialite Penelope Featherington in the series, teased some stills from the show ahead of its return this spring.

The Galway native took to Instagram to share some photos with her co-stars in their best Regency garb, giving fans a taste of what’s to come this season.

The first photo shows Nicola opposite her onscreen and real-life best friend Eloise Bridgerton (played by Claudia Jessie), followed by a snap of the Featherington sisters descending a staircase with their mother Lady Portia (Polly Walker).

Other shots show newcomers Edwina and Kate Sharma (Charithra Chandran and Simone Ashley), the latter of whom is set to be wooed by Viscount Anthony Bridgerton this season.

Captioning the post, Nicola wrote: “#Bridgerton Season Two!!! Lady Whistledown has some things to say... #March25th”

The official Bridgerton Instagram account commented on the post and complimented the 35-year-old on her character’s bright yellow dress.

“A vision in yellow as always, Miss Featherington,” they said.

And excited fans flocked to the comments section to express their delight about Bridgerton’s return.

Referencing last season’s big reveal that Penelope was spilling the ton’s secrets as her alias Lady Whistledown, podcast host Josh Smith wrote: “Give me goss already Lady Whistledown!!!!”

Bridgerton’s first season followed debutante Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and her quest to find a suitor, leading her into the arms of Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) as their secret romance unfolded.

The upcoming season, however, will focus on Daphne’s Viscount brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his attempts to charm the beautiful Kate Sharma.
