Nicola Coughlan has revealed that she is back on the set of Derry Girls to film its final season.

The Galway native will be playing schoolgirl Clare Devlin for the third and final time in the upcoming series of the Channel 4 comedy.

She will be joined by co-stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, and Daniel Llewellyn, who will reprise their roles as teenagers Erin, Orla, Michelle, and James once more.

Taking to Twitter and Instagram on Monday, Nicola teased that she was back in Derry to film the highly anticipated third season of the beloved show.

Sharing a photo wearing Clare’s trademark bangs and pigtails, the 34-year-old wrote: “Guess who’s back in the house? #ReturnOfTheWeeLesbian”

Nicola had been busy filming the second season of the hit Netflix period drama Bridgerton in the UK up until last week.

The actor, who plays socialite Penelope Featherington in the show, announced that they had wrapped up filming by writing: “And that’s a wrap on Pen.

“I can’t wait to share this season of Bridgerton with you, it’s been a complete joy. I’m so proud and so excited for you all to see it. See you in 2022/1814.

“Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown.”

She then headed straight back to Ireland to join the rest of the Derry Girls cast as they worked on the show’s third season.

Nicola’s castmate Saoirse-Monica confirmed last month that production had begun by sharing some photos with her onscreen parents, Tommy Tiernan and Tara Lynne O’Neill, on set.

The 27-year-old told fans that she was having “the best time” working on Derry Girls again after filming was delayed due to the pandemic.

“I’m having the best time filming our third and final season of Derry Girls,” she said.

“I love this show & Erin Quinn from the bottom of my little green heart, I really do.”
