Total pro: Karen worked wonders with Jake on DWTS

I'M delighted that Jake's girlfriend Karen Byrne has got her big break on the RTE soap Fair City - and here's hoping that it's the start of more TV work for her.

This is Karen's first ever acting role on TV in a soap and I'm very proud of her. She's delighted with it and has taken it all in her stride. She seemed to adapt very well to it.

Karen is great craic to be around. She doesn't take herself seriously, but she's very serious when it comes to her work. She's a total professional and perfectionist.

As a dance teacher you won't find better. When Jake went on Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) he couldn't dance. Karen turned him into a winner and he came away with the famous glitterball.

That's quite an achievement to go from literally not being able to dance to winning DWTS. She put a lot of hard work into making that happen.

I spent lockdown with Karen and Jake for a few months and I did a few TikToks with her. I know how strict she is when it comes to getting the dance moves right.

It was a pleasure having Karen in the house during lockdown. We came out friends still loving each other. You couldn't not love Karen. She is so funny. There's always a laugh when she's around.

Here's to many more folks

There were some big anniversaries in our family back home in Liverpool this week - but, sadly, we couldn't celebrate them because of the current situation.

Firstly, my mam and dad celebrated 31 years of marriage. That's quite an achievement, but they've still got a long way to go to catch up with my nan and grandad.

Nan and Grandad also had their wedding anniversary this week when they celebrated 57 years of marriage!

That was a bit of a milestone for them.

When I asked them the secret of a long and happy marriage they said, spend money you don't have, work hard, don't see as much of each other every day and keep yourself occupied.

Oh, and a drop of gin every now and again helps too!

IT may have a sinister name, but I highly recommend you to visit Murder Hole Beach near Downings, Co Donegal, if you're ever up that neck of the woods.

It's literally a hidden gem as I discovered last week. You walk through a field of cows to get to it, and then it opens up into one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.

It'll be another great memory from my staycation this year.
