Love Island star Yewande Biala has told how she had to clean the “disgusting” toilets during her stay in the villa.

The Meath native said that behind the glamours scenes of relaxation and sunbathing the reality for the contestants often featured more mundane tasks.

The 2019 contestant said they all had to pitch in with household chores and that the “most surprising thing” for her was having to wash the toilets.

"I think the most surprising thing is that we actually had to clean the villa,” the 25-year-old said.

“The villa was always clean when you watched it but you never really think that the islanders actually have to clean and do the dishes.

"I had to wash the toilets and it was really disgusting.

"I think that was the most surprising thing for me."

Describing her Love Island experience as a “rollercoaster of emotions - highs and lows”, Yewande said she “appreciated the friends that I have now a little bit more because of the show”.

“I appreciate genuine friendship and genuine love now,” she told Cosmopolitan UK.

"I think more because you don't know what people's intentions are now.

"So when you find people who genuinely love you for who you are and know you, it's an amazing thing and it's so important to hold onto those people."

Yewande also revealed her pinch me moment from the show was walking into the villa for the first time.

“I think in the villa the pinch me moment was actually walking in because I’ve watched it so many times.

“And to actually walk in and see the actual villa and be like, ‘Oh my God I’m actually here’.”

She also told how she went to Toronto for the International Film Festival where she met J-Lo.

“We were on the same red carpet,” she said. “It was insane.”
