Lorraine Kelly has said that a package sent to ITV addressed to her is what caused Thursday’s bomb scare at the studio.

Presenters and staff were evacuated from the London based TV station at approximately 11am before the incident was stood down just before 1pm.

Previewing her show on Good Morning Britain, the presenter explained what happened.

“Apparently, I am told somebody from a film company sent me a wee present and it had a battery in it, and when they X-rayed it it looked a little bit suspicious.

“But it was all fine and dandy, and it's OK.”

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “At 11:14hrs on Thursday, 10 March, police were called to reports of a security alert at Wood Lane, White City.”

“It was reported a suspicious item had been discovered.

“The area was evacuated as a precaution and White City and Wood Lane tube stations were temporarily closed.

“The incident was stood down shortly before 12:49hrs. An investigation is ongoing.”

Irish chef Donal Skehan was among those evacuated from the television centre.

Taking to Instagram he shared: “Bloody heck that was an eventful morning in London!”

“Just finished making raspberry cheesecake bars on @thismorning and Phil & Holly went to an ad break before we got told there was a bomb scare and the whole studio and television center building had to evacuate,” he explained.

“Roads and tube stations were closed, scary stuff! Thankfully everything all clear now, grateful to all the staff and team at @itv who got everyone out safely.”

The station was then forced to pull the rest of This Morning’s live episode during an ad break and cancelled the upcoming scheduled episode of Loose Women.
