Ivan Yates lashes out at Russian President Vladimir Putin and 'repulsive' war
Yates believes NATO and the EU need to unite to see off the threat of Putin.
Ivan Yates has rarely held back in his views on the pressing issues of the day and he has suggested the west need to do more to help Ukraine in their hour of need.
Speaking exclusively to sundayworld.com as he hosts a week of
special Cheltenham Festival shows for Virgin Media, Yates believes NATO should introduce the much-discussed no-fly zone over Ukraine, even if it means getting into a full blown conflict with Russia.
"I'm 62 now, and I never thought in my lifetime we would see this type of strife," Ivan told us.
"It is an exact replica of what happened in Poland in World War II with Hitler and I have to say I'd be hawkish enough. I'd support a no-fly zone.
"Looking the other way just comes back to haunt you and while I find war repulsive, I just think the sooner Putin is taken out the better. That is a hard thing to say, but sometimes with an aggressor, appeasement does not work.
