TV bosses have been forced to cancel this weekend’s episodes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! due to damage caused by Storm Arwen in the UK.

ITV bosses have confirmed that Saturday and Sunday’s live shows will not now go ahead because of technical issues caused by the storm.

The news comes after Friday’s show was pre-recorded by presenters Ant and Dec following nasty weather conditions at Gwrych Castle in North Wales, where this year’s celebrities are staying. The live shows will be replaced by “best of” compilation episodes.

The statement read: “Owing to technical difficulties caused by extreme weather conditions in the area, there will be no new episodes of I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

“I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will be replaced tonight and tomorrow night in the ITV schedules by compilation shows (voiced by Ant & Dec) featuring best moments from previous series.”

High winds caused by Storm Arwen is thought to have caused damage to production equipment near the castle, making it impossible for crew to broadcast the live episodes.

The celebrities, production and security staff were forced to hunker down this weekend as the high winds battered the region. The live shows are expected to return as normal next week.
