The cast of Harry Potter are set to reunite for a once off TV special to mark 20 years since the first film in the franchise, ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’, was released.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will be joined by American filmmaker Chris Columbus to discuss the films and creation in depth.

The special, which is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television with Warner Horizon and Pulse Films will see Harry, Hermoine and Ron back on screen again alongside some of their co-stars.

Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman, Jason Isaacs, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, Oliver Phelps, James Phelps, Mark Williams, Alfred Enoch, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Ian Hart and many more are due to appear on the programme.

It does not appear that J.K Rowling, author of the book series will be part of the reunion. The 56-year-old was involved in the production of the movies, with Warner Bros. granting her request to have the show shot in the UK with an all British cast.

Sharing a video of the trailer, Tom Felton who plays Draco Malfoy said: “Is this what school homecoming is like? mark your calendars for New Years Day.”

“This New Year's Day... we're putting the band back together,” tweeted Matthew Lewis who plays Neville Longbottom.

Emma Watson shared a tribute on Instagram also.

“Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (still is) my favorite fictional character of all time. I think a journalist once said it was irritating how many times during an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting… BUT I DAMN WELL KNEW!!! And still know,” her post began.

“I am proud not just of what we as a group contributed as actors to the franchise but also as the children that became young adults that walked that path. I look at my fellow cast members now and I am just so proud of who everyone has become as people. I am proud we were kind to each other, that we supported one another and that we held up something meaningful.

“Thank you to the fans that have continued to show their support well after the last chapter closed. The magic of the world wouldn’t exist without you. Thank you for fighting to make it such an inclusive and loving place.

“I still miss the crew who made these films all the time. Thank you for all of your hard work too - I know your contributions sometimes get overlooked,” she added.
