Greg O’Shea has revealed that he had a secret crush on his Love Island co-star Lucie Donlan.

The 27-year-old won the fifth season of the ITV dating show back in 2019 alongside Amber Gill after spending just two weeks in the villa.

While appearing as a guest on Graham O’Toole and Nathan O’Reilly’s Will You Shift My Friend podcast, the Limerick native was asked if he always had eyes for Amber on the show.

"I’ve never come out saying it publicly, but I’ll say it to you because it’s so far on,” Greg explained.

“Amber wasn’t set in my sights in the six weeks leading up. The girl that I was set in my sights was Lucie Rose Donlan.

“I knew I’d get on with her because she wasn’t getting on with the other girls in the villa so I knew she was normal.

“She was just like into surfing and fitness and all that kind of stuff… so I was like, ‘Ah, she’s kind of cool.'”

However, he never got the chance to lay it on thick with Lucie as she was sent home just days before Greg entered the Love Island villa as a bombshell.

Greg, who represented Ireland in the Olympics last summer as part of the national Rugby Sevens squad, went on to win the show with Amber and the pair split the coveted £50,000 prize between them.

The pair broke up just 5 weeks after the Love Island final, with Amber accusing Greg of breaking up with her over text – a claim he has firmly denied ever since.

Meanwhile, Lucie (24) is engaged to another Islander, Luke Mabbott (26), who appeared on the first series of Winter Love Island in early 2020.

The pair confirmed their relationship in July 2020 and Luke popped the question during a romantic getaway to Finland in December.
