Former Sunday World agony aunt and film critic, Cathy Kelly, has been revealed as the tenth star to join RTE One’s Dancing with the Stars.

The best-selling author said she had always wanted to learn how to dance “so this is my big chance to do it”.

“I’m very proud to take part in Dancing with the Stars” she told Dáithí O’Sé and Emer O’Neill on RTE’s Today Show, “it’s the fun and the joy of it.”

Cathy started off her career as a journalist, however, writing fiction was always her passion and in 1997, her debut novel, Woman to Woman was published.

Since then, the prolific writer has produced a new book nearly every year and has written 20 best-selling novels over the last 25 years, at one point was outselling J.K Rowling and Dan Brown in the UK.

Cathy, who lives in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, is mother to twin sons who will sit their Leaving Cert next year.

She describes herself as an exhibitionist and loves the idea of putting herself out there and learning a new challenge.

She will join the likes of Missy Keating, Erica Cody and Nicolas Roche who have also made the all-star line-up.

Yesterday, Aslan's Billy McGuinness and one of the greatest amateur riders of all time Nina Carberry were revealed as the two newest Dancing with the Stars contestants.

The hit Sunday night TV series will return to screens in January 2022, with 12 new celebrity dancers hoping to make it all the way to the final.
