David Schwimmer has confirmed that the long-awaited Friends reunion special will begin filming as early as next month.

The anniversary special was originally supposed to be filmed over two days in March 2020, but production was interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Schwimmer (54) has now revealed that fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see the cast back in action.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, the actor said: “It's happening. Actually, in a little over a month I'm heading out to LA.

“So, finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there's going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols.”

He remained tight-lipped on who would be hosting the reunion special.

“I can tell you it's not Ellen [DeGeneres] and it's not Billy Crystal,” Schwimmer said.

“I can tell you who it's not, but that'll take a while, probably.”

Schwimmer, who played paleontologist Ross Geller on the beloved sitcom, will be joined by Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry for the one-off special.

The cast will sadly not be reprising their roles in the Friends reunion. Instead, it will be an hour-long event filmed on the original set at Warner Bros Studios where the gang will take a trip down memory lane.

It’s been seventeen years since the show’s final episode, so fans are excited to see the stars reunite.

Jennifer Aniston, who played fashionista Rachel Green on the show, has said that the production delays will make the special even better than before.

Speaking to Deadline, the 52-year-old said: “It’s going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been.

“So, I choose to see it as the glass is half-full that it got postponed. Look, we’re not going anywhere. You’re never going to get rid of Friends, sorry. You’re stuck with us for life guys.”
