This year’s celebrities enter the castle tonight

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here returns to our screens for its 21st season tonight.

The series returns to a Welsh castle as Covid restrictions mean stars can't fly out to the jungle in Australia, and And and Dec are back tonight to present the show from Gwrych castle.

The 10 stars taking part are music producer Naughty Boy, former footballer David Ginola, ex-Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, Emmerdale's Danny Miller (Aaron), Olympic gold diving medallist Matty Lee, Paralympic champion Kadeena Cox, Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy, TV presenter Richard Madeley and fellow telly host Louise Minchin.

After two decades there's been plenty of great moments from the show, and here's just a few of the treats from a variety of celebs down through the years.

PAUL BURRELL

When Princess Diana's former royal servant stuck his hand into several holes in the wall in 2004, each with their own scary creatures on the other side, he looked like a man about to be executed.

The collection of hyperventilating screams, gasps and whispers he produced were mindblowing, particularly when paired with the looks of sheer terror painted across his face.

Paul finished runner-up to Joe Pasquale for his efforts.

GILLIAN MCKEITH

Gillian McKeith never fainted while discussing poop on You Are What You Eat, but a stint in the jungle was too much for the TV nutritionist who gave medic Bob the most air-time he's ever had after collapsing on being picked for the live trial.

Her antics in 2010, in the series which was won by X Factor star Stacey Solomon, led to several send-ups, including a memorable one by Derry star Nadine Coyle.

JOEY ESSEX

The Only Way Is Essex star Joey Essex came across as a bit dumb on the show, but no one could have foreseen that he would own up to not being able to tell the time on his watch.

Joey, who also mistook a lizard for a 'dragon' in one episode, admitted he fended off people asking him the time as not only does his watch not have numbers on it but "I just don't understand the ticks".

Campmate Steve Davis looked increasingly exasperated as Miss Great Britain Amy Willerton took pity on Joey and patiently tried to teach him how to tell the time using twigs and a circle drawn in the mud.

Westlife star Kian Egan went on to win the same series in 2013.

PETER ANDRE

Johnny Rotten was unimpressed as Peter Andre boasted about opening tours for Boyzone and East 17, as well as being a warm-up act for Madonna and Tina Turner and claiming to sell two million records.

But the Sex Pistol looked wildly bewildered as Peter belted out parts of his song Insania, sometimes out of key, back in 2004 in the series which was won by Kerry Katona.

Peter's attempted warblings seemed to do the trick for Katie Price though, as they fell in love and are the only couple to have got married and have kids from the show - although they've since parted ways.

DEAN GAFFNEY

Dean Gaffney was happy when he encountered Ant and Dec at a spa type set-up in 2006. But he was startled when told he would have to do a bushtucker trial.

The EastEnders star reacted in horror when he had to put his hand in a box of bees, dangle his feet in hidden containers of rats and crabs, immerse his face in fishy gunk and then dive into a pond full of crocodiles.

"Is this a wind-up?" he screamed. "I've genuinely thrown up about four times."

The series was won by Busted singer Matt Willis.

NELL MCANDREW

The shower scenes in the jungle have become as much a part of the reality show as the daily bushtucker trial.

Among the girls who fans ogled over were Sophie Anderton, Catalina Guirado, Helen Flanagan, Dani Behr, Gemma Atkinson, Daniella Westbrook and Myleene Klass. But the original jungle bikini babe was Nell McAndrew.

The former glamour model shot to fame playing Tomb Raider's Lara Croft in promotional campaigns and entered the show in 2003, which was won by former cricket star Phil Tufnell.

The beauty had just released her first fitness video and, as the first model in the jungle, she set the bar for getting down to her smalls - even if some fans complained she didn't strip off as often as they would like.

STACEY SOLOMON

X Factor star Stacey Solomon ended up winning the 2010 series and during one task she had viewers in stitches when she tried to slyly attract the attention of comedian Dom Joly.

After exhausting every subtle option for their secret task, Stacey resorted to hurling a stone at Joly that just so happened to hit the comic squarely in the face. Joly looked aghast and hurt when it hit him, but the incident thankfully did not result in the campers becoming suspicious.

ASHLEY ROBERTS

The 2012 series of I'm A Celeb was memorable when Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts was tasked with tricking her other campmates into performing a dance to the chorus of the American band's hit song Don't Cha.

While Ashley feared she'd face resistance from some of the campmates - burly darts player Eric Bristow in particular - she soon had the contestants bumping and grinding in the jungle.

Ashley finished runner-up to EastEnders star Charlie Brooks, who played Janine in the soap.

GEMMA COLLINS

The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins lasted just three days in the jungle back in 2014, in the series which was won by motorbike star Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty.

But Gemma had a series of unforgettable moments. She announced "I think I've got malaria", cried dramatic tears, complete with running mascara, in the helicopter, and had an outburst at being slung in the jungle jail, wailing "people who are murderers are treated better than this!"

Being starved and stranded was too much for Gemma and she quit the jungle - much to the dismay of former BBC newsreader Michael Buerk, of all people - after 72 hours.

David Gest

DAVID GEST

Long before the hilarious debacle that was Celebrity Big Brother's "David's dead", Gest made himself a reality TV legend in 2006 thanks to his dry sense of humour and tall tales - the most infamous surrounding his intriguingly-named maid, Vaginica Seaman.

"Her mother loved her body part so much, that she decided if she had a girl, she was going to call her Vaginica," he announced to an otherwise-sceptical camp. "No bull."

He was visibly moved by his fellow celebrities sharing their favourite moments in the camp - most of which involved him. And he remained best buds with EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney to the day he died.

The American finished fourth in the series won by singer Matt Busted. After the confusion over David Bowie's death on Big Brother, Liza Minnelli's ex-husband actually ended up passing away for real the same year in 2016 at the untimely age of 62.
