The X Factor star Janet Grogan will enter Last Singer Standing as a contestant this week.

The Tallaght native (33) first hit our screens in 2016, when she made it past the bootcamp stage of The X Factor and flew out to Sharon Osbourne’s LA home during the Judges’ Houses section of the competition.

Unfortunately, the full-time singer-songwriter and vocal coach didn’t make it through to the live shows and went on to sing as a back-up singer for Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018.

Now, Janet is one of four hopeful contestants joining this week’s Last Singer Standing in a bid to make it to the final and bag the grand prize of €25,000.

Also entering the competition this week is Anna O’Connor (37) from Nenagh in Co. Tipperary, who was once a full-time singer but opted for a career change during the pandemic and has since opened her own salon.

28-year-old Charlotte Hyland will be competing for the top spot this Saturday too. The Wicklow woman believes she has an “unusual singing voice” that will help her along in the show.

The final contestant joining Last Singer Standing this weekend is Tony Cunningham (33) from Galway, who built his own studio at home after Covid-19 stopped him from performing live gigs.

Last weekend, Alex King from Dublin was the first to go through to the final after impressing judges Nadine Coyle, Samantha Mumba, and Joey Fatone.

Hosted by Nicky Byrne, the game show requires contestants to have tactics as well as talent, as singers face-off against one another in a test of singing ability, and nerve.

Last Singer Standing continues this Saturday on RTÉ One at 8.20pm.
