Singer-songwriter Brian Kennedy has revealed he has been battling Covid-19 for the past 10 days.

The popular singer (53) took to his official Instagram page to reveal that he took a short walk outside on Thursday after his positive diagnosis.

He posted: “First day out for a short walk after 10 days of isolation since my positive Covid diagnosis.

“Baby steps. Even though I was doubly vaccinated it was a rough journey. Jesus. Imagine if I hadn’t had the jabs. Unthinkable! I still have miles to go. Thanks for your support.”

Well known friends including model Yvonne Connolly and former RTÉ presenter Mary Kennedy were quick to wish him well.

Ms Connolly, the former wife of the once Westlife frontman said: “Ah Brian … I didn’t know that. You poor thing. Glad to know your back on your feet. Sending you lots of love xx.”

Ms Kennedy added:“My goodness Brian I’m really sorry to hear you’ve been so unwell. Take good care. Hope you’ll be fully better soon.”

The latest health set back for the Belfast native comes after being declared cancer free last year after undergoing a four year long battle against colorectal cancer in 2016.

He has been through major surgery and chemotherapy, and for a time was unable to walk.

The Crazy Love singer had to have his colon, rectum and prostate removed which has resulted in him having two bags, a colostomy and a urostomy, attached to his stomach for the rest of his life.
