Singer Omarion jokes 'I'm not a Covid variant' after pundits confuse him with Omicron

Omarion joked: 'I'm a musician , not a variant'
R&B artist Omarion has taken to his social media accounts to remind people he is in fact a singer and not a variant of Covid-19.
His comments come after some social media pundits in the US accidentally referred to the omicron variant as ‘Omarion’.
However, the ‘Post To Be’ and ‘Touch’ star has seen the funny side of the situation, taking to his TikTok account to say: “Hi, this is Omarion. I am an artist, not a variant.
“So please be aware that if you just so happen to run into me on the street, you don’t have to isolate for five days…”

Ironically, after addressing the mix up in a series of videos, the posts attracted a huge amount of views - and like Omicron, went viral…
In another video, the singer said: “While it’s important not to touch me and keep your distance, ‘cause you know that’s how it’s supposed to be, you don’t need a negative test to dance to my music…”
Omarion also quipped about the boy band which made him famous, B2K, and comparisons with the Y2K bug at the turn of the millennium.
He joked: “I know there has been a lot of confusion online recently, so my lawyers asked me to read this.
“I, Omarion, am a musician and entertainer, you knew that, not a variant, okay.
“The last time I had to do this was in 2000 when everyone confused Y2K with B2K.
“That ain’t how it’s supposed to be, but seriously, I want to wish you all a happy and safe New Year’s. Peace.”
