Don't look back in anger Liam Gallagher recalls how Diego Maradona threatened to shoot Oasis brothers
An interpreter told him: "He says if you leave with any of his birds he’s going to have you shot."
OASIS star Liam Gallagher this week recalled the night Argentinian soccer legend Diego Maradona issued a death threat to the Oasis brothers.
Speaking to Colm Hayes on Radio Nova, Liam said that they met Maradona when Oasis were still together and performing in Buenos Aires.
The band were in their hotel bar having a drink when they noticed a commotion, and discovered that Diego Maradona was having a party upstairs.
Liam and Noel wrangled their way in for a picture with the soccer superstar. “He’s there partying with his ladies and his mates,” Liam recalls. “Then he starts ranting.
“He seems a bit stressed, what’s up with him?” Liam asked. An interpreter told him: "He says if you leave with any of his birds he’s going to have you shot."

Needless to say, Liam left empty handed that night.
A virtual recorded concert featuring Liam Gallagher performing on The Thames was streamed last night.
“I ain’t doin’ a Zoom one because they’re pathetic, so we decided we’ll get a barge, we’ll get all the guys back, plug in the guitars and we’ll make some noise, and we did it and it sounds amazing,” Liam told Colm Hayes on Nova.
The set included set included songs he made famous in Oasis. “I’ll never leave home without the Oasis classics,” Liam added.
"They’re part of my songs as much as they are Noel’s. Regardless of who wrote them, I sang them and I made them what they are as well, just as much as what he did.”
