Singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy has posted a picture of his first-ever busking permit as he encouraged fans to chase their dreams. 

The performer added the inspiring message with the throwback photo, “I was patient. And persistent.

“Go chase after what you want, because it will never come looking for you.”

The Power Over Me singer who performs all over the world, began busking when he was just 17.

As well as his permit allowing him to play in Dublin he has started off with his own small gigs in other cities, including Boston in the United States.

He is now gearing up a tour of the UK and Ireland next year that starts off with the Gleneagle, Kerry on June 6, 7, and 8.

On June 10 and 11, he will play St Anne’s Park, Dublin, followed by Malahide Castle, Dublin on June 24, and Musgrave Park, Cork on June 25.

Just this week the Rathcoole native took to the social media app to share a clip of a never-before-heard song with fans.

In the video, Kennedy can be seen standing on a balcony, singing out into the open air.

It prompted fans to immediately start speculating about when the singer was going to announce the release of his second album.

The clip was posted to his Instagram story, which was widely re-posted.

Dermot sings: "Last call, turn out the lights/ I hope I treated you right."

When his debut album ‘Without Fear’ was released in October 2019, it went straight to number one in the Irish album charts.

It sold 7,000 units, becoming the fastest selling debut album in 2019, and spent 27 consecutive weeks at number one.

Dermot has recently spent time in Barbados and California over the past couple of months and is currently in London, where it appears from his Instagram account that he's in the studio working on new music.
