Game of Thrones veteran Liam Cunningham is joining rising stars Aisling Franciosi and Chris Walley in a new Dracula movie.

Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the story of the ship that transported the infamous vampire from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker’s classic novel.

In the 1897 book, the ship washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving-mad survivor.

In this version the crew is slaughtered one by one by a mysterious passenger.

Hunger and The Wind that Shakes the Barley star Cunningham, 60, will play the ship’s captain while 28-year-old The Fall actress Franciosi will play Anna, a stowaway.

The Young Offenders’ Walley is in an unnamed role.

Javier Botet, the 6ft 7in star of horror films like The Conjuring 2, Crimson Peak and Scary Stories, will play the Prince of Darkness.

The script has been sailing around since 2002, originally written by Bragi Schut (Escape Room).

But this version has been penned by Zak Olkewicz, who wrote the upcoming Brad Pitt-starrer Bullet Train and worked on Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy.

Other stars in the gothic tale include David Dastmalchian, of The Suicide Squad, who plays first mate Wojchek, Jon Jon Briones (Ratched) is the cook, and Stefan Kapicic (Colossus in the Deadpool movies) and Nikolai Nikolaeff are crew members. Woody Norman and Martin Furulund are also on board.

The film, directed by Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark filmmaker André Øvredal, has just begun production in Berlin and will later move to Malta.

Dubliner Cunningham played Ser Davos Seaworth in every season of the hugely popular Game of Thrones.

Franciosi also starred in the sixth and seventh seasons of hit HBO series as Lyanna Stark.

The actress, who played Jamie Dornan’s besotted babysitter in The Fall, received rave reviews for the film The Nightingale in which she played a woman out for revenge after her family was slaughtered by British soldier in penal-era Tasmania.

After Demeter, the busy actress will start work on Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Rothko, opposite Russell Crowe and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
