Jodie Comer has revealed that swimming in the sea in Dalkey kept her “sane” while filming The Last Duel.

The Killing Eve star spent a portion of 2020 filming the Ridley Scott drama in Ireland alongside Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver.

The film, which tis set in 14th-century France, follows best friends Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris, who are ordered to fight to the death after Carrouges accuses Le Gris of raping his wife.

Jodie worked on The Last Duel alongside 200 cast and crew members, filming in different locations across the country – including Cahir Castle in Tipperary and Meath's Bective Abbey.

But she said the thing she loved most about her time in Ireland was heading for a sea swim in Dalkey after a long day of filming.

Speaking to John Byrne, the 28-year-old said: “We were in lockdown but what I did whenever I could was go swimming in the sea, which was freezing.

“But it was the best thing to do after a full day of filming or on the weekend in Dalkey. It was stunning.

“So, that’s what I remember fondly from that experience. It’s how I kept so sane.”

She added that working on the film with such a talented cast and crew was an “incredible” experience.

“It was incredible from start to finish,” she explained.

“To meet these guys and meet Nicole [Holofcener], and for them to be so welcoming, and to work on a film on this script that I really loved and am extremely proud of was incredible.”
