Filmmakers are seeking GAA players to star as extras in the latest Liam Neeson movie.

Production on In the Land of Saints and Sinners has officially kicked off in Co Donegal and filming is expected to continue through to the end of May.

The new action-thriller blockbuster will tell the story of a retired assassin who is forced into a game of cat and mouse with three terrorists.

Belfast-born actor Ciarán Hinds will also star in the flick, which is being directed by Robert Lorenz.

A casting call has been issued for movie extras to take part in scenes featuring a GAA match.

Scenes will be filmed in the Glencolmcille, Ardara, and Kilcar areas of Donegal from the end of March until late May, but particularly the dates of May 6 and May 9.

Casting agents are looking for a 1970s looks, so anyone with “short back and sides” hairstyles will be ruled out as extras.

A spokesperson for movieextras.ie said: “What we are looking for is 1970s hairstyles (sideburns, moustaches, beards and longer hairstyles all welcome), GAA players, men and women of all ages, good availability (continuity roles will require multiple shoot days!)

“We'd love if you could let your hair and/or beard grow - unleash your inner 70’s soul! If you're able to grow a moustache/sideburns/beard or are willing to swap a beard for the classic 70s moustache and sideburns - we want to hear from you! No ‘short back and sides’ haircuts please.”

In addition to male GAA footballers, the casting team are also on the lookout for extras to play coaches and referees.

As for female roles, casting agents are seeking those with “natural looks” for other upcoming scenes - meaning that acrylic nails and tattooed eyebrows are a no go.
