SOCIAL media influencer and fashion blogger Daisey O'Donnell - who is dating the son of an Irish mob boss - has strong family roots in Limerick.

The English woman made headlines here thanks to her romance with Lee Byrne, the son of Kinahan cartel figure Liam Byrne.

Neither she nor Lee Byrne have any involvement in crime.

The Instagram star, who grew up in Huddersfield, last year appeared in west Limerick where a funeral had been held for a relative.

The deceased woman, Kathleen McGowan, a well-respected and successful businesswoman from Newcastle West, was related to Daisey's mother's family, according to Sunday World sources.

One of her business interests included the popular Black Lion pub in nearby Rathkeale.

In photos posted on social media at the time, people posed with Daisey's then boyfriend Tom Zanetti, a Leeds and Spain based DJ who also enjoys a huge social media following.

He has had a number of chart hits in Ireland and the UK and last year featured in E4's Celebs Go Dating.

In her social media accounts, Daisey (22) describes herself as being of Irish and British heritage.

Along with her sister, Ellie, they have built up a career which includes a clothing business and posting photos from beautiful locations around the world.

Last month the influencer was back in Ireland on a visit to Dublin with Lee Byrne for a family christening.

She told her 1.1 million Instagram followers that she'd touched down in Ireland with a photo posing with her designer luggage.

Daisey also said she had spent time in Belfast where she "watched the world go by" at a restaurant in the city's Cathedral Quarter.

Lee Byrne recently declared her as 'the love of my life' as the smitten pair shared images of their holidays and partying at the Creamfields music festival on social media.

Lee has been showing off his wealth for several years, displaying expensive watches, designer gear and jetting off on luxury holidays.

The Sunday World previously revealed how he went to his school debs in a Rolls Royce.

He was also photographed carrying the coffin at the funeral of another gangster's son, who died tragically, along with Kinahan cartel member Nathan 'Biggie' Little.

Lee's father Liam, regarded as a leading figure in the Kinahan cartel in Ireland and the UK, is still the focus of garda investigations.

His uncle David was murdered in the infamous gun attack at the Regency Hotel in February 2016.

Liam Byrne allegedly became Daniel Kinahan's right-hand man in Britain after his brother-in-law Thomas 'Bomber' Kavanagh was jailed in 2019 for possession of a stun gun.

Byrne fled Ireland after the Criminal Assets Bureau seized millions of euro of his wealth in 2019.

CAB has also seized dozens of high-powered vehicles, jewellery, bank accounts and Byrne's Raleigh Square home in Crumlin.

Dozens of Kinahan cartel members have been jailed as a result of various investigations into Irish gangland's most notorious mob.

Those jailed includes Liam Byrne's cousin 'Fat' Freddie Thompson, who is serving life for helping to carry out the gangland murder of David 'Daithi' Douglas in Dublin in 2016.

As part of their investigations, CAB claimed Byrne was at the 'very top tier' of organised crime in Ireland.

In submissions to the High Court, CAB outlined his links to Christy 'Dapper Don' Kinahan's cartel.

It was stated: "The target of this investigation is the Liam Byrne Organised Crime Group. This group is aligned to the Kinahan Organised Crime Group (KOCG) and is involved in the importation for sale and supply of controlled drugs into this jurisdiction.

"The investigation has uncovered a system of money laundering used by this group to hide the beneficial ownership of the various assets in their possession.

"The main target of this investigation, Liam Byrne, is a close and trusted associate and lieutenant of Daniel Kinahan.

"The KOCG is an international gang involved in the importation and controlled distribution of drugs into this jurisdiction, the UK and mainland Europe. It has bases in Spain, the UK, Netherlands and Dubai.

"Liam Byrne and Sean McGovern are at the very top tier of this group and are regularly spotted in the company of Daniel and Christopher Kinahan."
