Dermot Kennedy has announced two charity gigs in Dublin’s 3Arena next month.

The Outnumbered singer will be performing the shows, which are titled ‘You Won’t Get Lonely’, on December 13th and 14th with all proceeds going towards Pieta House and Focus Ireland.

Pieta House provides free therapeutic support to people who are in suicidal distress and those who engage in self-harm.

Meanwhile, Focus Ireland provide services for people who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes.

Announcing the concerts on his Instagram account today, the 29-year-old said: “I’m just making this video to announce that on the 13th and 14th December I’m playing two shows at the 3Arena in Dublin with all proceeds going to Focus Ireland and Pieta.

“I’m extremely humbled and grateful to be putting on these shows just to give something back to my hometown so everybody come together and let’s sell out these shows, let’s raise a mad amount of money for people that need it so much more than we do.

“Tickets are on sale on Friday. Thank you so much, I’ll see you there.”

Speaking to Jennifer Zamparelli on RTÉ 2fm, the musician explained that while there are many worthy charities across Ireland, he chose to raise money for Pieta House and Focus Ireland to aid with their “life-changing work.”

“I guess when you get the opportunity to do something like this, you try to see who would be most vulnerable this time of year,” he said.

“And it is always a hard choice because there are so many worthy charities and so many people doing great work but just the work they do really strikes a chord with me. I want to raise a mad amount of money for them.”

Tickets will go on sale Friday 19th November at 9am from ticketmaster.ie.
