Vogue Williams has said that a career in modelling prepared her for the cutthroat world of television.

The Howth native entered the modelling scene as a teenager before deciding that television was her passion, and recently hit a milestone moment in her career as the host of Virgin Media’s latest talent show The Big Deal, which aired last night.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Vogue said that losing out on modelling jobs in Ireland made her more “resilient” to the television industry and getting rejected for roles.

The 35-year-old explained: “I grew up modelling in Ireland so literally you would lose out on a bazillion jobs so I kind of had that from the age of 16.

“And I am kind of quite resilient to it. And you can’t take everything personally.

“I feel a lot more comfortable in my position now,” she said, referencing her new presenting gig.

“Obviously you still lose out on jobs that you go for and things like that because there are limited jobs. But definitely, you don’t get all of the jobs you go for. But nobody does. It doesn’t really bother me.”

The mum-of-two revealed that she was in the running for a big job opportunity recently, but the role ultimately went to someone else.

However, Vogue revealed that it didn’t phase her as her competitor was someone that she looks up to.

She said: “I went for a job recently and I didn’t get it but it didn’t bother me because the person that got it is someone I literally admire so much and to be even in the running with that person - just me and that person - and that was it.

“I can’t tell you who it is. But I literally was like, I actually don’t even care because the fact I was even up for the same role as her... that is somebody I would have looked up to. So, it wouldn’t upset me.

“And then I got another job instead,” she added.
