TV presenter Sile Seoige has revealed how she rushed to hospital after an "eventful early morning" following a pregnancy scare.

Sile, who announced earlier this year that she and partner Damien O'Farrell are expecting their second child, a baby girl, took the precaution because she was worried about her unborn baby.

The Galway native recently took to Instagram stories to share what happened.

"I'm 38 weeks pregnant now and had an eventful early morning," she said.

"All is good thankfully and the only reason I'm sharing this is to normalise check-ups (especially for first-timers) if you're worried about anything.

"Sleep is tricky now for obvious reasons and our baby girl is a very active baby. But in the early hours of the morning I woke (again) and was concerned about reduced movement."

Síle drove to the Coombe to make sure everything was OK, where the baby was monitored for about 20 minutes and she also got a scan.

"All is good and she was obviously just sleeping," she said.

"But it was good to be on the safe side, especially at this late stage of pregnancy.

"Never feel foolish going for a check as it's better to be safe than sorry."

Sile recently told how she is taking extra precautions as her due date approaches - and joked she’s adopting Roy Keane’s “fail to prepare, prepare to fail” plan.

The presenter and partner Damien, who also have a four-year-old boy named Cathal, not only packed her hospital bag, but shared a photo of her back-up plan in the event of a quick birth.

“Prep for our daughter's arrival is in full swing this weekend! While I'm finishing off the hospital bags, himself is getting the transportation to the hospital ready!” she wrote on Instagram.

“One of the trickiest parts of labour for me last time was the trip to the Coombe.

"Think of me as an annoyed wild caged animal and you'd be getting close.

“Also I had a fairly quick labour on Cathal and we've heard plenty of stories of baby No. 2 coming fast so in the words of Roy Keane (or some other bloke called Benjamin Franklin) 'Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.’

“Before I get any disapproving messages...this is only to be used in an emergency. Obvs.”

Sile announced earlier this year that the couple would be welcoming a baby girl into the world. She has spoken in the past about her personal struggles after having two miscarriages.

“I just wanted to share some personal news but I am very conscious of how I say it,” she wrote at the time.

“Anybody who's been following me here for the past while will be aware that the past two years, on a personal level, have been challenging because I've gone through two miscarriages. It was tough.

“My news is that I'm pregnant. I am 16 weeks. I am obviously feeling overjoyed even if I'm not looking it right now. I am so happy and I know I'm so lucky but it hasn't been an easy road.”
