RTÉ star Kathryn Thomas has said that she was “in bits” when she dropped her daughter off at her first day at preschool.

The Operation Transformation star took to her Instagram Stories yesterday to reveal that her daughter Ellie had started Naíonra, an Irish-speaking nursery school.

The first photo she shared showed Ellie’s pink wellie boots and her Disney princess school bag perched on the table.

Kathryn captioned the photo and wrote: “A big day in our house. 1st day at Naíonra.”

Next, she uploaded a snap of the lunch she made for Ellie followed by a video of the mum-daughter duo walking to school.

The Carlow native then posted a picture of three-year-old Ellie beaming at her Naíonra’s front door and explained that she was feeling emotional at the sight.

“Tá sí totally ceart go leor,” she said before adding: “Tá a Mhamí in bits.”

Kathryn’s last photo of the day showed Ellie’s grand return to their house after her first day at school, where she was greeted by the family dogs with a “welcome home party.”

It comes after Kathryn admitted that she’s struggling more with her second pregnancy than she did with her first.

The RTÉ presenter is currently expecting her second child with husband Padraig McLoughlin and announced the happy news back in June.

However, she admitted that things haven’t been as easy as when she was pregnant with Ellie.

Speaking to The Irish Sun recently, the 42-year-old said: “We are thrilled, absolutely delighted but I went for a walk this morning and I am definitely slowing down, feeling bigger and heavier.

“I was lucky, I was feeling good throughout, but in the last week or two I can feel the need to slow down and pull it all back.

“The last time out I was reading, getting pregnancy massages and doing yoga, all these things. This time I can’t remember the last time I washed my hair and the only reason I am washing it today is because I am going for dinner.

“But listen, it is great. I definitely know the difference between the two experiences.”
