Byrn-ing up RTÉ’s Claire Byrne returns to her garden shed after contracting Covid-19 for a second time

As you can see, I’m back here again. I’m not in the studio, I’m working remotely as I have tested positive and like so many people around the country, we’re doing our best to work through it,” said Ms Byrne.

RTÉ's Claire Byrne returned to her shed to present her live television show tonight after contracting Covid-19 for a second time

The presenter is understood to be well despite developing some symptoms over the weekend.

She was one of the most high-profile people to contract Covid in the early days of the pandemic but persevered with hosting her television show, Claire Byrne Live, remotely.

The backdrop of her garden shed became a talking point in March 2020.

She also presented the Today with Claire Byrne radio programme from home on Monday morning.

Opening her television show on Monday night, she said: “I’m back here again."

“Hopefully we’re coming out of this wave, but many businesses and individuals are seriously impacted, both by illness and by Covid-19 isolation rules.

“As you can see, I’m back here again. I’m not in the studio, I’m working remotely as I have tested positive and like so many people around the country, we’re doing our best to work through it,” said Ms Byrne.

She spoke via video link with various guests including Covid-19 experts, Professor Sam McConkey and Professor Luke O’Neill, who was in Bratislava in Slovakia where he is delivering humanitarian aid with Depaul to help war-torn Ukraine.

Meanwhile, others guests, including producer Aonghus McAnally and builder Peter Finn, were interviewed from the RTÉ studio.
