The Parsons family appeared on the programme in April 2022.
The young boy appeared on Ashmawy’s show DIY SOS alongside his family, parents Jenny and Glen and brother Ryan.
The Parsons family from Longwood, Co Meath featured on the home renovation show in April as volunteers helped to renovate their semi-detached home as it was no longer functional for their young family.
Josh, who was diagnosed with Smith-Magenis Syndrome, a severe developmental disorder that affects many parts of the body, was non-verbal, peg-fed and used a wheelchair as he was unable to walk, crawl or sit unaided.
He recently underwent treatment in the ICU at Crumlin Children’s hospital and sadly passed away on Tuesday.
Following the news, the team at DIY SOS sent their condolences to Josh’s heartbroken family.
"Baz Ashmawy, the entire DIY SOS team & community of volunteers, and everyone at Motive Television are devastated to hear of the loss of young Josh Parsons, son to Jen and Glen, who were the centre of our Longwood episode earlier this year.”
“Josh was a fighter and an inspiring young boy, and his family did him proud in every step of his tragically short life.”
"Our hearts go out to Jen, Glen and Ryan, their entire network of family, friends, and neighbours in Longwood, Co Meath."
His death notice said that the young boy "peacefully slipped away in the loving arms of his heartbroken parents at Crumlin Children's Hospital ICU.
"Sadly missed by his mum Jenny, Dad Glen, brother Ryan, grandparents Dave and Audrey, Pat and Noeline, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends," his death notice continues.
His funeral is set to take place on Thursday, May 5, at 2.15pm at Newlands Cross Cemetery Crematorium.
