RTE star Lottie Ryan has spoke out about her premature pregnancy and how she feels that her baby was a ‘gift from her dad’, Gerry.

Lottie and her husband Fabio Aprile welcomed their 33-week baby last month after a particularly difficult pregnancy over the last year.

Their new arrival, named Wolf was born in Rotunda Hospital and because of the early delivery spent some time in the NICU ward before leaving with the proud Mum and Dad.

After only 3 weeks of trying, Lottie says that she believes her luck felt like it had something to do with her dad, Gerry.

“I’m not a particularly religious person but there’s part of me that wonders how we got that lucky, and how did we get pregnant after just three weeks?

“I feel like maybe it was a gift from dad and that they already met somewhere else.”

The 2fm radio presenter who tied the knot with her husband Fabio in May 2017 told RSVP magazine that it was a ‘pure joy’ after waiting years for it.

The two proud parents have confessed that there is still an element of disbelief.

“We've both said on numerous occasions that until they handed the both of us the baby, we still kind of felt like it wasn't real."

However, being in the spotlight did not make this pair exempt from the torturous covid restrictions that hundreds of expectant parents have had to deal with throughout these last 16 months.

This was particularly difficult for Lottie, who suffered from complications from the early stages of her pregnancy.

She says: "You could be in for hours at a time sometimes and Fab would just be sitting out there in the car, texting me to see how I am and trying to distract me to keep my spirits up.

"It wasn't easy on me, especially if I was having to come back to the car and relay information to him that the doctor had given me, that's not easy to do either.

"But they're doing their very best and I understand they have to be very careful.”

Lottie and Fabio are currently enjoying the time spent bonding with baby Wolf, before she returns to the airwaves.

The dancing with the Stars champion reveals: “I haven’t decided the exact dates yet, but I don’t think I'll be taking very long.”
